Malaki and Lillie were sitting at the counter coloring together when I came down stairs after taking a bath.

"Mom" Malaki asked, "where's my Grandma?"

"She and grandpa went on a date because tomorrow i

s grandpas birthday" I told him.

"And whats a date?" He asked me.

"Wellll," I said trying to figure out the best way to describe this to a 5 year old "A date is when you really like someone, and you want to spend special time with just them, so you go have dinner, or see a movie or do something fun so you can continue to get to know them better."

He sat quiet for a moment pondering this. "I really like you Mommy, so I need to have a date with you, cause you are my favorite mom!"
